Free Health Check-up Camp
With the objective of ensuring accessibility of health services in rural areas, a free health check-up camp was organized on 12 January 2026 at the premises of Atal Vivah Mandap located in Jarangdih South Panchayat of Bermo Block under Bokaro District by Desaj Abhikram & Paryavaran Sakhis in collaboration with the Health Department, Bokaro, Jharkhand Government and CCL, Kathara. The camp was conducted from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, in which a large number of people from nearby rural areas participated.
The programme was inaugurated by the General Manager of CCL Kathara Area, Shri Sanjay Kumar, by cutting the ribbon. On this occasion, Bermo Block Pramukh Smt. Girija Devi, Chief Medical Officer of Regional Hospital Kathara Dr. M. N. Ram, Medical Officer Dr. Abhishek Bhardwaj, Community Health Officer Sunita Mahto, ANMs Pinky Kumari and Poonam Kumari, Health Workers Vikas Kumar Thakur and Shantipad Gorai, Block Trainer Sunil Kumar, Sahiyas Seema Devi and Gudiya Devi, and Paryavaran Sakhis who came from Bokaro and Dhanbad were present.
During the camp, comprehensive health check-up arrangements were made for common citizens, which included screening for TB, malaria, diabetes, skin diseases, eye, nose, ear and dental diseases along with preliminary examination of general and serious illnesses. In addition, beneficiaries were also provided counselling related to nutrition and healthy lifestyle. After the health examination, necessary free medicines were distributed to all patients, through which they could receive immediate treatment facilities.
In this health check-up camp, villagers from Jarangdih, Area No. 16, Bodiya Basti, Kurpania and many surrounding villages participated. Overall, more than 100 people availed free health check-up and treatment services through this camp. Increasing awareness regarding health was observed among villagers and continuous participation of people remained throughout the camp.
For the successful conduct of the camp, necessary administrative and medical support was provided by Community Health Centre Bermo. In the light of previously issued orders, deputation of doctors and health workers was done, who performed their duties with coordination. The role of Paryavaran Sakhis was especially important in making the camp successful, who ensured maximum participation by creating awareness at the community level.
The villagers who participated in the camp appreciated this effort made by Desaj Abhikram Sanstha and said that such free health check-up camps are extremely useful for rural areas. People expressed expectation for the organization of such programmes in the future as well. This free health check-up camp organized in Jarangdih proved to be an effective initiative towards strengthening rural health services, through which the organization strongly presented its commitment towards community health and welfare.
