About Us 

In the year 2005, a team of media professional and Community concern groups felt the need of local mass communication products for transforming the society. These specially focused on creation of coordinated chain of mass communication tasks including various tasks of writing, editing, research-study, teaching-training and publication.  The efforts for making shared dream come true started with continuous dialogue and discussion and the banner of 'Samvad'.  Ultimately after coordinated efforts of a decade 'Deshaj Abhikram' was established.

"Indigenous Abhikram" has been dedicated to research on the rich socio-cultural and self-governance of Jharkhand, publishing books, pamphlets and producing audio-visual films and disseminating these in villages and different parts of the country and the world. Educating and training the youth to develop better understanding towards their egalitarian civilization i.e. Indigenity and Indigenocracy have been also one of the core objectives.

Desh Abhikram was registered on 17th May 2018 as a partnership firm created by four voluntary workers. Unfortunately one of our senior colleagues, Shishir Tudu ji, passed away due to serious illness. It currently has three partners.

Deshaj Abhikram was working in the name of Samvad and Dashaj publication before its emergence.

The Partners

Hemant is a well-known senior journalist and writer of the country. He has also worked as the Chief Advisor and Researcher in the Archives of the Government of Bihar. He has written dozens of books. A research book titled "When the river is tied" has become very popular in the country.

Shekhar is a well-known artist and documentary producer from Jharkhand and Bihar. He has collected and repainted the Manjusha craft of Bhagalpur and exposed it to the world. A book on Manjusha painting has also been published. He has also produced about one and a half dozen documentaries.

Ghanshyam is a social worker, issue based and environment focused writer. For the last thirty years, he is working with tribals and indigenous peoples in for preservation and promotion of their self-governance and empowerment of natural self-reliance. Many of his books have been published on the martyrs of Jharkhand and the environment.

The Units of Deshaj Abhikram

Deshaj Abhikram, a media organization was registered in 2018 has following units and specific unit-wise objectives:-

   Deshaj Communication - This unit is dedicated for visualization of the society, culture and history of Jharkhand and Bihar through documentary films. Specific objectives also include production of documentaries and short/feature films, Organize Film Shows, Organize Film Society, Website development, maintenance and Promotion.

    Deshaj Prakashan - This unit is focused on publication of books & Periodicals and marketing, organizing book fairs. Several books based on Water-forest-land, Research-based studies, New and alternative thinking in Jharkhand-Bihar have been published. The future plan of unit includes to publish books on Democracy at national and international level, Unity in diversity, Research related to the social, economic and cultural principles, Compilation and analysis of Ideas on equality-justice and brotherhood at the global discourse forum.

    Deshaj Gyanpeeth - The unit following “Shantiniketan” as role model is dedicated for initiating a centre for learning, training and teaching. It is a center of education, training and experimentation of struggle and creation for the renewal of society. The core concept of the Vidyapeeth is - the search for alternatives. We know that establishment of Vidyapeeth is a long term plan and requires involvement of various levels of society including local people, national scholars and fellow social workers along with land and other tangible resources.

     Indigenographics - The unit is focused on Promotion and marketing of Indigenous Art and Crafts.
